Faculty Development

A faculty development programme (FDP) for Off-campus faculty members is being offered as a joint initiative between the Center for Education Research and Innovation (CERI) and the Faculty Affairs Division of Off-campus Programmes.  CERI has developed this FDP with the help of experts in the "Teaching and Learning" domain including Prof. Lakshminarayanan Samavedham from the National University of Singapore, Singapore. The programme consists of 4 phases and covers topics related to the practice of teaching via a review of current literature, reflective thinking, and discussions. The FDP is being rolled out through an online platform. Faculty members go through the video content in a self-paced manner and complete some related reflection activities in a given timeframe. At the end of the phase, synchronous online discussion sessions are conducted to talk about the practical aspects of implementation. Two phases of the programme have been completed. The first phase covered the topics of Designing and Writing Course Learning Outcomes, and Constructive Alignment. The second phase covered the topics of Assessments, and Active Learning.
