Mission
To partner with the teaching community (Faculty and Teaching Associates) to promote excellence in teaching by leveraging evidence-based teaching methodologies.
To facilitate the development of student centred learning approaches.
Vision
To create an environment where faculty are willing to develop innovative teaching approaches and adopt/adapt the latest developments in teaching and learning, and thereby create an environment where students from different backgrounds can learn and succeed.
Current Projects
At CERI, we are pioneering the development of advanced AI models designed to revolutionize educational assessment and automation. Our innovative systems aim to objectively evaluate teacher performance, effectively support learner progress, and streamline educational practices, ultimately enhancing efficiency across the educational spectrum. We are closely investigating the following areas of research:
Use of Artificial Intelligence to further teaching and learning practices
Factors Influencing learner engagement in large classrooms
The implementation of experiential learning via lab courses
Modes of instruction and assessment
Modelling program evaluation for Work-Integrated Learning
Current Priorities
CERI will focus on the following areas in the short to medium term:-
Analysis/ Development of Evidence based Pedagogy and Assessment Frameworks
Training programs for regular faculty members, guest faculty, and teaching assistants
Monthly Talks by internal and external experts in the areas of teaching and learning
Biennial International Conference on Work Integrated Learning, with the first edition planned for April 15 – 16, 2024
Biennial Symposium that will focus on a selected topic of current interest to the teaching and learning community
Recognition for outstanding Faculty
Research in the area of Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL)
